What's missing in your classrooms, New Haven Teachers?
What do teachers in New Haven Unified (Union City, CA) need or want in their classrooms that budgets won't allow for? What do you think would energize your planning?

I teach 2nd grade in New Haven. A few things I feel are missing from my classroom are field trips (more than just the 1 district sponsored trip a year), volunteers to help with paperwork and learning games, and classroom art supplies (especially for projects we send home as gifts at the holidays, mother's and father's day).
Something's missing, huh? That thing that you need (or want) that would make your plans that much sweeter. That thing that would produce the look in your students' eyes that a teacher longs for. That look that says, "Oh, I get it!" That thing that fires your students up and makes them want to be in school and makes you want to be there to.
Is it a trip, a service project, maybe it's as simple as classroom supplies or money for making copies because you are about to reach your department limit? Maybe you would like those reading, art or math buddies to get a bit more training in working with your students. Whatever it may be, let us know!
We are in the exciting beginning stages of a grassroots effort designed to empower communities through shared accountability in education. Class Size Production will not only exist to raise funds for teachers' efforts, but also to find creative community-based solutions for those issues that come up every year, but you have no time to entertain. The idea is to rally parents, teachers, students and neighbors in an effort to share accountability and invigorate education!
The goal in the first year of Class Size Production is to research teachers’ needs and desires in the classroom by simply asking them to respond to posts on this site. Feel free to sign your response with 1) The grade you teach and 2) The city and state in which you teach.
Change starts with a few, spread the word, forward this site and encourage your fellow educators to respond to posts that speak to them.
